It stands for: Brighton Restaurant Awards - Vote Online. The acronym also works well for the action of giving your favourite restaurant a cheery ‘Bravo’ for their efforts!
There are 16 categories in the BRAVO awards - all of which are listed on the homepage. For a more detailed explanation of each category please click into the specific category page for an overview.
Venue owner (5)
Due to the volume of eateries and bars in Brighton, Hove and Sussex it would be near impossible to create individual pages for each one on the site. But that doesn’t mean we don’t think you’re important! Voters can still choose to vote for venues that aren’t listed by submitting their request via email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll ensure it's uploaded as an option within 48 hours. The venue must be within a 15 mile radius of Brighton city centre and be suitable to win the award, e.g. only pubs can be submitted for 'Best Pub Grub'!
We’re keen for all independent venues to promote themselves for a BRAVO award no matter the size of your business or marketing budget! That’s why we have created a page of assets to use for this very purpose - including images, logos and details to get in touch so we can drop you off a batch of promo cards to give out at your venue to customers.
Yes! We’d love you to vote for all categories, but please note you can only vote for a particular venue in a maxiumum of five categories and only if they are suitable for the award, e.g. a cocktail bar cannot be voted for in the 'Best Restaurant' category.
You’re keen! Nope just one venue per category. But you can vote in all 16 categories.
The BRAVO awards are purely an online vote via the website voting system. This keeps things fair as no one is allowed to manually add votes and everyone who votes will be registered.
If you can’t see an independently owned venue that you’d like to vote for and it is within a 15 mile radius of Brighton then please contact us and suggest your nomination. We will then make sure it fits with our criteria and add to the list so others can also choose it. Please note that you cannot nominate a chain restaurant (one that has over 10 venues in the UK) or a takeaway.
Your beady eyes are correct - we’ve decided that in the spirit of celebrating local businesses the awards are only open to small-scale independent venues that are locally run. This means we've included companies with ten venues or less.
If you have pressed the wrong button or changed your mind on a category vote simply reclick on the vote you wish to cancel and it should say 'vote removed'. You can then go and vote again for this category.
In the interest of keeping things streamlined, we have made the decision for people to vote for a brand rather than individual venues if there are multiple locations in the city.
Yes. But it’s super quick! Simply login via your Facebook or Twitter account or using your email address so we know you are a real person and not a sneaky robot.
The winners of the BRAVOs will be announced on Wednesday 28th March 2018 via the BRAVO website.
It’s as simple as casting your vote! When you register to vote your email address will be entered into our prize draw to win £200 towards the Brighton venue of your choice. Make sure you use the correct email address/Facebook/Twitter account to sign up with so that if you win we can contact you. We won't use your details for anything other than contacting you about winning or for newsletters if you choose to opt in.
We are also offering three prizes of £100 towards your bill at a Brighton venue of your choice through competitions run on the Restaurants Brighton Facebook page throughout the campaign.
Is the suspense getting to you? Do not fear, we’ll be straight onto it the moment the voting ends. We’ll announce the winner of the £200 competition prize w/c 26th of March.
All winners will be notified using email used for signing up to the award voting system.
The winners of the Facebook competitions will be announced on Facebook throughout the campaign.
We’re passionate about keeping the awards as fair as can be, so we enlisted some geeky whizz-kids to develop a bespoke voting system to ensure each vote is counted correctly and each category is equally promoted. You may notice that every time you log onto the homepage the categories are in a different order - giving each one a fair moment in the spotlight.
As it is a Brighton and Hove centric awards we ask that people keep this in mind when casting their votes. Therefore we are stipulating a 15 mile voting radius from Brighton town centre, so with our ‘Best Sussex category’ for example, these will be venues that serve Brighton.
